from the heart of India
Our Journey from Mirzapur to the World
Founded as Oakley, Bowden & Taylor, our story begins in 1920 in Mirzapur, India - a town on the Grand Trunk Road that became the heart of rug-making in India. Ethical craftsmanship, innovative design & traditional processes gives Obeetee the distinction of being the most reputable exporter of hand-made rugs from India.
Having piqued the interest & earned the patronage of the likes of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehra & Amitabh Bachchan over the years, we have grown to be the oldest manufacturer of rugs from India & one of its largest exporters in the world.
With over 25,000 independent artisans & 1,000 permanent employees under our canopy, Obeetee is cutting-edge in its design while being rooted in our traditional craft and century-old legacy. Our ethos is as defined by our century-old legacy as it is by millennial innovations & social entrepreneurship.
